module 8 video review

1. Explain why you selected the video you choose from the selection listed above.
I chose the video The Greek Awakening: Art from the 5th Century BC because I think greek art is interesting and I wanted to learn more about the art that was made in the BC era .

2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
In the first video, How Art Made The World 1- More Human Than Human, I learned that the statue of Venus is made out and how much its worth. It is made of limestone and it is worth $60 million. I also learned that seagulls can explain the shape of the venus willendorf. I also learned that the styles of the Egyptians do not change. In the second video The Greek Awakening: Art from the 5th Century BC i learned that in greece people were always the center of life, the center of religious life and as well as social life. They say it's because they thought of themselves as gods rather than regular humans.

3. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?
The videos relate to the readings in the text because they spoke about the artwork that was in the book both videos  describes the significance of art and how it changed in different ages.

4. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?

I think both films were education and gave me a better understanding of threadings as well as the art concepts

module 7 video review

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
In the science design video i learned that a tiny apartment in Paris, NYC, or Even Toronto is rare as well
as prohibitive. Once skyscrapers became the new form of a structure to build building , the discovery of
the importance of concrete and steel came with it. A skyscraper is made up of two distinct parts , the
superstructure , which is what stands above ground and the underground substructure. I also learned
that wind is one of the main problems when building skyscrapers . a building above 100 stories can rock
at least 1 meter with wind. The second video i chose to watch was Frank Gehry: Architecture as Art. In
this video Frank Gehry expressed that he tries to make buildings that interact with human responses; a sense of
feeling that people might have is important to him while creating building. He also was saying that it's kind of
hard to speak about these things because it's based off of human emotion. When you see a beautiful painting or
a sculpture you have an emotional response to it

2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?
Both of the videos relate to the readings because they both discuss structure and the materials that
are used. They gave a better and much in depth understanding of architecture. I couldn't get into the
reading because it was kind of boring but watching the videos made it easier to understand
3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of Architecture?
I enjoyed the films,  Frank Gehry video really shows and emotional side of architecture , even though
it was very informing , I can tell he's passionate and loves what he does, which made it a good video,
the second video gave me a more in depth understanding of architecture.  The science design video
showed me what it takes to build skyscrapers or building in general.
4. Why did you choose the films that you watched?
At first glance it was more so about how long the videos were. So I went with the shortest ones. After
watching them i was glad i chose them because i loved them

Module 6 blog review

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
The glass video discussed the process of making glass  and how it gains its shape once its cooled down. The sculpting video discussed the process of sculpting as well as that it requires emotion. Artist used their emotions to figure out what they are going to create, the artist depends on their feelings  they get from the material, which usually determines what they should make. They get an emotional attachment from the material. In the end  I learned that they both are very similar.
2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?
The videos relate to the text because they focus on the same things In chapter 11 the processes of Casting and carving  were discussed just like in the video. They also discussed modeling and assembling. The process of glass blowing as well was spoken about in the text and in the video. The book also spoke on the different materials and things mixed together that helps make sculptors and glass  products. Just like the videos.
3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the topics: Sculpture, Installation, and Craft?

I actually enjoyed watching both of the videos. In middle school i got the chance to do ceramics ,and partly see the process of turning the class that we were just molding into a glass figurine. In The Glass and Ceramics video I was able to see the technique that goes behind the cutting and shaping  of the glass. The Sculpture video showed me that, just like painting the sculptors emotions are apart of the process. Even though the process is hard and time consuming artist always makes the work look effortless.

Module 6 Peer Review

2.I did I agree with both girls when it come to their selection of pictures for the elements or principles.
It was also very creative. They didn’t just go with basic answers. For example with Katherine , the
broken glass picture she used for emphasis could of been used for lines as well.
3. With Heather K we both chose the Albert Bierstadt, The Marina Piccola,
painting as a painting that had an impression on us and it was for the same reasons, because it
looked so realistic. With Sashae it was a few painting that we both chose ; Yves Tanguy. Divisibilite
indefinie (Indefinite Divisibility),Albert Bierstadt. The Marina Piccola, Capri,Yasuo Kuniyoshi. I Think So,
1938.,Amedeo Modigliani. La Jeune bonne (The Servant Girl), . We were both connected to the I think so painting ,
the other paintings were in different categories
4.The other pictures heather did didn’t really peak my interest and most of the painting sashae had
I had them as well.
5. I think reading their reflections on their work and leaving comments on my work helps both of us
to get a better understanding and understand the process it took for them to do their work and how
they felt about it. We can learn from eachother.

6. While i was doing my assignment no one had commented on my work yet, but when they do
Im pretty sure it would be helpful and very informal
