1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
The glass video discussed the process of making glass and how it gains its shape once its cooled down. The sculpting video discussed the process of sculpting as well as that it requires emotion. Artist used their emotions to figure out what they are going to create, the artist depends on their feelings they get from the material, which usually determines what they should make. They get an emotional attachment from the material. In the end I learned that they both are very similar.
2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?
The videos relate to the text because they focus on the same things In chapter 11 the processes of Casting and carving were discussed just like in the video. They also discussed modeling and assembling. The process of glass blowing as well was spoken about in the text and in the video. The book also spoke on the different materials and things mixed together that helps make sculptors and glass products. Just like the videos.
3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the topics: Sculpture, Installation, and Craft?
I actually enjoyed watching both of the videos. In middle school i got the chance to do ceramics ,and partly see the process of turning the class that we were just molding into a glass figurine. In The Glass and Ceramics video I was able to see the technique that goes behind the cutting and shaping of the glass. The Sculpture video showed me that, just like painting the sculptors emotions are apart of the process. Even though the process is hard and time consuming artist always makes the work look effortless.
