Guernica - Picasso

Use the vocabulary you have learned in class to describe this artwork or performance in detail.
this painting is considered a monochromatic or monochrome painting. This is so because of the one color that is used throughout the piece. This painting of from the cubism era, the geometric shapes and the overlapping of each painting assures us of that

the bombing of the town of Guernica during the Spanish Civil War was the influence on this painting. picasso was in paris when he heard about it. A photographer named Dora Maar collaborated with Picasso. Maar took photographs of Picassos’ creative process.a month later , he composed different sketches that would then turn out to be apart of the Mural. He used oil paint to create this piece.

the relation between the two is that this represents the destruction that resulted in the town of Guernica that took place during the Spanish Civil War.theres bulls and horse in the painting something thats significant to their culture.

project 4 reflection

this project was interesting to me because it made me think about home. If i was a real curator I would want to do a 3-D gallery on Jamaica. To narrow it down and decide i chose food. I could of chose the culture all in one or the different types of people . I could of spoken about the nature of the Island or the attractions.  I went with food because its like a love language in my country. Its like art. the process of preparing the food , seasoning it, cooking it ,even putting it on the plate for someone to eat, its all art. Once if figured out the theme of  my gallery , i had to find pictures to fill it up. I tried using ARTSTOR but they didnt have the pictures i needed so i used google images, thats where i found all the perfect pictures

module 10 Blog review

Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above.
The videos I decided to do this week was African Art : Legacy Of Oppression and African Art. I decided on these videos because i've always been interested in African art and I don't think it gets the recognition that it deserves so thought theses videos would of been a great set for me to watch this week.
For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
The key concepts that I've learned from the African Art video would be that African Art was unknown to the European's until the 19th century and that they had a lack of understanding  when it came to African Art. Another thing I learned figure scupltures are primarily found in west Africa , in other regions of Africa artist express themselves through making mask.
The African art : legacy of oppression  spoke about how the artist of central African gloried their mothers and motherhood and the “ Chiefness of their Chief” there was a statue of the chief and a sword coming out his mouth and in the video they said it represented the strength of his word. I also learned that Belgium's Tervuren Museum contains the world's largest collection of Central African art.
How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?
Both videos discussed mask and the history of African art and what the mask may have represent which was also discussed in the text.
What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?
I loved both of the videos I felt a bit of a connection to these videos and it kind of gave me a better insight of my culture and what their art represent. The videos gives you a sense of appreciation for the art and what it stands

Michelangelo , during his time his painting were kept away so people wouldnt see it but now a serious art student can see them.it took him 2 years to complete the statue of david , it was the first collossal marble sculpture since Antiquity

both videos are discussing the arts each individual made and the themes . Leonardo artwork always included elements of reality and were realistic in their appearance. Michel Angelo drew all his life but destroyed most of his own drawing because they showed his unwillingness.
